OSHA Training – Outline of Topics to be Covered

What is OSHA? –  The U.S. Department of Labor oversees the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to ensure the health and safety of America’s workers

​

Bloodborne Pathogens Standards - Practice Offices are required to have a written plan in place to deal with BBP as well as to provide annual training in the standards

​

Emergency Action Plan – All practice Offices are expected to develop and implement an Emergency Action Plan to ensure every employee knows the plan and how to implement it

​

Hazardous Chemicals – all offices are required to maintain a written hazard communication program and properly identify all hazardous chemicals used or stored in the office

​

Radiation – offices that have X-Ray equipment must meet a number of radiation standards in order to operate and maintain this equipment, including limited exposure, proper safety garments, rooms and equipment properly labeled, etc.

​

OSHA Poster – Every office must display the OSHA workplace safety poster explaining the rights to a safe work environment

​

Fire and Electrical Hazards - OSHA electrical standards apply to electrical equipment and wiring in hazardous locations. If flammable gases are used the practice may need special wiring and equipment installation.
